Instructions were also provided showing users how to handle the new California SB 299 Pregnancy Leave requirements. This new state law is written into the Labor Codes, not Insurance Codes. It is applicable to both insured and self-insured plans for employers with 5 or more employees. The law requires employers to provide up to 16 weeks of leave to employees with pregnancy related conditions. Employers are required to continue payment of health coverage during the leave. The law can easily be handled by the user making a few changes to the FML Leave functions built-into the COBRA and Direct Bill systems.
Version 6.1.9 includes fixes for all user reported issues and several new features including a W-2 report designed to provide users with print or export ability of the actual cost of each participants health coverage to meet the new Affordable Care Act W-2 reporting requirements. In addition, numerous enhancements have been completed in CSPWeb, including the ability for authorized users to output extensive reports, self enroll and change thier own passwords.
The update notice included information about the upcoming Summary of Benefits and Coverage required by provisions of the Health Care Reform law passed in March 2010. The new notice and disclosure requirements were to become effective on March 23, 2012. The Department of Labor (DOL) has since released a statement delaying enforcement until final regulations, expected by mid 2012, are released. BPSC will provide the ability to provide the SBC in the EasyCert application.
